Every time we stick up a new poll, we will discuss the reasons behind it.

The poll we have been running for the past few days is a question to which i don’t really have the answer to, yet. When it comes to end game I always without fail went PvE, I played to raid and that was it. During my EQ2 time I raided extensively, eventually leading raids for sometime. But having played WoW with some RL friends i began to become more interested in PvP.

Then AoC came out, and being the MMORPG junky that i am, i just had to have it!

Now this is where things get interesting. I find myself wanting to pvp rather than join the dungeon crawl group. In the back of my mind their is still that voice calling out for me to join a PvE Raid guild. I miss the dedication needed to raid, being there on time doing your job etc. On the other hand i love the freedom PvP play brings, where i can just pickup and play without a care in the world.

So I’m lost and I wanted to see what all you guys were planning on doing.

So, I started a ToS the day after I did my format. I was sat there thinking “people will have blown this way out of proportion. No way can it be as powerful as everyone says, no way”. I finished creating the lad, who is about 5ft 3, and slim with it, and watched that wonderful cutscene we get every time we start a new character. You know, where there’s a fella floating in the water who looks nothing like you and then suddenly you’re on the beach and it was you all along. Then that guy comes a talks crap at you, and you don’t even get to deck him afterwards.

In fact, where’s my rape, dammit? Theres a busty blonde chick tied up at the top of the beach, and you don’t even get to indulge in some sexual violence? This is an 18+ for fuck’s sake! I want blood and virgins! Why the hell can we make constant references to prostitutes, call people son’s of whores, chop their legs off, and yet not give some skanky bitch a seeing to? It’s bloody stupid!

Woops. Went kinda off track there. Anyway. I run off to the right, and lay use my one and only ability on the poor sap who’s standing there. Lightning comes down… and he dies. That’s it. I hit a button, and a guy dies. Wow. Ok. What about this guy over here? Oh look, one hit kill again. Basically, I ran up the beach and one -shot everything in my path, and I didn’t even have to stop for mana regen! As soon as I left combat I had full mana again! As I progressed through the starter area, things just got easier and easier. On the off chance my opponent didn’t die in one hit, I just cast my heal and beat them in instead.

I now see why everyone runs from ToS’… they’re nigh on invincible, in the earlier levels anyway. There’s no challenge to it, you just run in and hit the same spell over and over. Put everything into casting concentration and bandaging at the start, and any injuires you get will make no difference to your rate of progress whatsoever.

If things get any harder as you go up the levels, please don’t hesitate to comment and let me know. If thing’s get easier, let me know too. I thought my Demonologist was solid, but the ToS is in a whole different league from the little I’ve seen!

lmao i had to post this guys.  I came across an article about about the impacts of MMORPG’s on modern society and it began to talk about whorecraft (porn website which makes porn based on warcraft amoung other things).

AoC is 18+ so i see no issue with this, but lol just LOL!

With the annoucment of pvp armour sets coming into AoC, snippets of info have been flying around the net, i managed to pickup on this one.

This is one of the Ranger sets and it looks awesome!  I can only hope all the other sets look just as good or even better.

(the barb one better look damn good, or head will roll!)

Hi everyone, it’s me again. Im sure you’ve all read my last post, and I’m happy to report that all went well without a single problem. Well… without any really big problems. Ok, with a few major issues, but I’m back now, and I shall share my tale with you.

First off, I realised part way through the install that I was putting Vista on the the wrong hard drive. This caused a lot of panic and more profanities than you would have thought possible. Fortunately though, I was wrong, and it was going to the right place after all. So, once I had a nice fresh install, I started with updates, and began installing everything. Part way through, I had to restart… and watched in horror as no less than 58 updates were installed while I sat in bored silence staring listlessly into space. Painful, that was. Really, really painful. Anyway, to the important part. Age of Conan DOES work without installation. I backed it up onto my external, and after the format, just ported it across again. Now, theres a convoluted method to it, but it does work. Trying to run the patcher, or the ageofconan.exe does NOT work. You get a lovely little DOS-esque box which basically tells you that the entire game has collapsed and died. So, instead, I ran the patcher setup, just out of curiosity… and it worked! I downloaded the latest patches, and I was away. You have to run the game from the patcher setup every time, but it makes little to no difference in terms of initial loading times.

So, heres where things get upsetting. I was playing away, killing, the usual, when my monitor dies on me. This had happened before, in fact its one of the reasons I formatted. It keeps happening, then restarting, so I exit AoC. Apparently ATIKMDAG has stopped working but recovered succesfully… 9 times. Oh dear me. So, I do some searching around, find nothing that’s garuanteed to fix it. So… I decide to look at the hardware. I put the card under load, and look at the temperature. Strangely enough, at 120 degrees celsius, the card switches itself off! So, its apparent that there is some severe overheating going on. I’ve swapped out my 3870 for my old 8600, and although everything is on low, at least it works. I am, as we speak, buying a decent cooler for the card, so hopefully it’ll be back to decent detail soon enough!

Oh… and I’m afraid we wont be seeing pictures of my ancient laptop running AoC. I know I raised your hopes up, and I’m sorry… but it won’t even turn on any more. I swear, computers hate me.
